Protecting Grapevines in Spring

BY CLEANING THE TRUNK, WE CARE FOR VINEYARD HYGIENE AS WELL AS ITS APPEARANCE

Young shoots are removed from the trunk, the soil surface is cultivated, and for early varieties where shoots are longer than 30 cm, they are positioned under the first pair of wires.

It is time for trunk cleaning and surface soil cultivation. This cleaning is carried out in spring when it warms up, and this year, due to beautiful and warm weather, we are conducting it somewhat earlier.

For early varieties where shoots are longer than 30 cm, they are preventively positioned under the first pair of wires.

There are three reasons for this:

The first is that young shoots from the trunk would not take strength from the vine, i.e. energy from the grapevine. By cleaning the trunk, we care for vineyard hygiene as well as its appearance. Additionally, young shoots are positioned under the first pair of wires to prevent breakage due to wind.
